I'm Still Here!

I have been sewing up a storm, reading a ton of books, and even had a friend come to the area and stay for two weeks. It has been a crazy June. I also turned '40'.... ::cough::

Oh well, time marches on and I have much to do!

Will try to be more thoughtful and write more! So sorry! Booklist coming up in the next day or so.

Take care!

SPOILER ALERT!!!

I can't help it! He is just too awesomely cute!!! I have recently brought him for my sister's ugly bday present! She always gets an 'ugly' present from me and when I saw him at Megan's ETSY SHOP I could not resist and had had had to buy him! She will love him and if she ever read my blog she would get this spoiler early... as she barely had an internet connection, she won't know until she reads this when I tell her about it! I know, I know, I am EVIL!

One More To The Family!

So this past weekend, with hitting the Romantic Times Convention with my sister, as well as a full weekend of sewing... we have added a new family member to our lil nest of siblings!

Meet our curious cousin! Tropical Yeti!!!
He is a bit shy and even tried to escape our clutches, but we have caught him well and true! With a strange craving for 'Runts' candies, he stole into our lives and we are going to keep him. ::nod nod::
(My sister was so excited to see the one I made for Matt Griffith, husband to renowed artist Jasmine Beckett-Griffith aka Strangeling, that she has wanted to join me in possibly creating our own online creature factory. That being said, she has wanted to learn to sew for a while now and this was the final straw! She had to make one of her own! And she did, I am so very proud of her!!! Not only learning (and buying) on her own sewing machine, but figuring out how to cut patterns, hand-sew something more than buttons, and finally taking a project from start to finish in less than 2 days!)

More to come regarding that!

Pieces of Flair!

I know know know know you have seen that movie 'Office Space' where Jennifer Aniston has a roll of the upcoming girlfriend to the main actor, but in the movie she is a waitress at like a TGI Friday sort of restaurant. In it she has to wear 'flair' aka buttons with funny sayings on them or pictures.
Well Facebook has a similar premise. YOU can create and share flair with your friends. Pass it on, save it, create 'Flair Albums' on your homepage, etc. The uses are boundless.... and yes, I have fallen again and started to create flair myself. ::facepalm::

So drop me a note and I shall send you some FLAIR on Facebook too!
~Wierdlings

I have been sucked in!

Goodness, I swore I would never ever do it.. but I did... ::groan::

I fail!

I have joing the league of Facebook people. ::le sigh::

Granted I have found a few High School friends, can keep up with some of my favorite artists (Jasmine Becket-Griffith) and their upcoming works, and even enable a few people with my hangups, habits, and adictions like yarn, plushies, and fairies. ::yes, I am evil::!

Now I have a few more places I have to visit daily on the web. Why can't there be more hours in the day Lord?! You created the world in seven days, can't they be just a little longer I ask you?!

Y-E-T-I spells Matt!!!

Many of you, unless you are Jasmine Becket-Griffith aka Strangeling fan, do not know that a few paintings of hers have an awesomely cute blue Yeti. Jasmine has stated on her blog and in person how the Yeti, to her, represents her hubby, Matt. Matt is a very devoted husband and partner for Jasmine and works hard and is very proud of the success his wife has developed. To this end, I had an idea.. why not make the YETI come to life!

So I went Yeti hunting!!! I found the fur on an online fabric store and ordered it a couple of months ago. I had planned to work on the project and give him this plushie back in February at the MegaCon he and Jasmine attended, but my RL workload did not lend itself to giving me the free time. I then decided to work on it for their next appearance. The Celebration Art Festival.

Working last week, I drew my pattern, cut the fabrics and assembled him Friday eve, Saturday Day, and bright and early Sunday morning. Each time I finished a portion I had to show my hubby and see his reaction. YEAH! Jasmine gets dollies and Matt gets plushies!

Finally complete, I stuffed him and the yeti and I journeyed to the Art Festival where I presented him to Jasmine and Matt. Their reaction was all I could hope for and they were floored to see him come to life. I forgot to ask Jasmine what his name is!!! Must ask her later.

~Wierdlings

I win!

Yes, I was able to pick up Pink Lightning Gothic Fairy from Jasmine today! It is absolutely gorgeous!!! I was able to attend the free Celebration Art Festival here in Central Florida where I was able to visit with Jasmine and Matt and even meet another devoted Jasmine Art fan. I have my Pink Lightning home, hung and looking gorgeous.
Unfortunately the hubby was not well and could not attendthe festival with me. While it was a clear day, it was a bit too warm for me, if he had come he would have been burning up and it would not have as enjoyable for him. Also, since he was not with me, I pretty much directly went to Jasmine's booth and chatted with them for a bit. On the way out, I did grab some Paella from the Columbia Restaurant and some freshly squeezed Lemonaid.

Such a BAD BLOGGER!

Okies, I tried to return each and every day to post something on my blog. Not that I don't have a lot to talk about, but its trying to find the time. I go to work, go home, knit a bit, raid in World of Warcraft and the next thing I know its 1:30 am and I have to get up for work. Over the weekends I read like 4-5 books and then the cycle continues. ::blush::

There is SO MUCH MORE TO LIFE!!! I know this, I really really do. ::nod nod::

I plan on moving a lot of stuff from the storage unit to the house, I want to organize my yarn stash more effectively, I want to bathe the cats more often now that they are going outside ::ewww possible fleas:: and finally, I want to spend more time with the hubby, though that should honestly be the first thing on my list.

I have LOTS and LOTS of books to post for my reading list this year and I have joined yet another Knit-A-Long (KAL). Spring Mystery Shawl 09 by Goddess Knits. We shall see if I am able to stay up with everyone once it starts, I always fall behind. This is very exciting and I can't wait to start.
Lots more later!

New Look!

Yeah, totally updated for Spring! I have been so very busy the past few weeks. Work has been hella-crazy and its only going to get worse this week, though I will make it through! Knitting has been so and lazy... I just can't seem to finish what I have going and don't want to start another project without completing something. Its driving me nuts! Finally, I have let my blog fall to the side while raiding in World of Warcraft. Having hit 80, I am raiding with my guild and not finding time to do anything else, but studying the fights and trying to get my DPS (damage per second) up to make it to the raids.

Anyway, I have a new look thanks to Strangeling and CLIM artware. I will work harder to keep all my juggling balls in the air!

Talk again soon!

~Wierdlings

PS Speaking of Strangeling! I went to Megacon and had a great awesome time! Running into Jasmine aka Strangeling and her husband, Matt, it was like visiting with old friends again. She will be appearing at a local art festival in Celebration, Florida where they live and will be able to see them again soon. She had/has wonderful artwork for sale and on the final day had them marked down so low, I was able to buy a few more limited edition prints!

Pillarwork Cowl

My latest knitting has proven to be a work in progress.  Many times I have had to double check myself, as the pattern is so easy I would forget to stay in rhythm and not remember where I was.  ::blush::

I really need to make notes as well!  At one time I forgot how many stitches I cast on and had to recount them a few times.  ::double blush::  How am I to tell you how I did it, if I don't take notes???

I have written to Ravelry and requested a 'designer' sort of account.  It's nothing super special really, mainly a way for me to post free patterns to the database.  ::nod::  Or at least I am telling myself its not too overly special, because I see such intricate and inspired designs out there and I am no where near their calibur... YET!  ::wink::

So I will chug away and keep creating easy and fun patterns.

Distrato Irish Hiking Wrist Warmers

I know, I know I have done these sooo many times, but they are super easy, fast and feel great!  This pair happens to be two different colorways in pink and green.  They are also a cotton blend too, so they are not too hot and can be worn in hot or cool weather.  HERE is the pattern for them.  Off to finish my next cowl, so I better hurry.

Radioactive Birthday Cowl

Here it is, the Radioactive Birthday Cowl!  The pattern is so easy and beautiful, I had to make a few of them this past Christmas Season.  This one though was for me and my awesome yarn from Stormmoon Knits from her ETSY store.  There is so much per skein, I was able to make wristwarmers and the cowl from the same skein.

Radioactive Irish Hiking Wrist Warmers

Love love love these colorways!!!!  They are from Stormmoon Knits and they are just as eye-popping gorgeous as they appear in the pictures.  Very sad to say though that SMK's recently took a new job and her dying has had to take back seat to her RL stuff. Completely understandable, but I hate that I found her so late and could not order more of her gorgeous stuff.  ::sniff and le sigh::

Her yardage was also great on these worsted weight skeins!  More than 300 yards for only $20.00.  Yep, I said $20.00!  I was not only able to knit a pair of wrist warmers, but also a Cowl from the same skein and still had a tiny bit to spare.

YEAH! Pictures have returned!!!

Goodness its so hard to describe the feeling of wanting to post stuff and not being able to because of being technically hindered...  aka as -loosing-the-camera-cable-to-download-pictures.  Yes, its unforgiveable, but I am still trying to blame the hubby.. (somehow) for the loss.

Regardless, I can now post pictures of my recent and New Year's knitting!  ::cheers::  They will be seperate posts, as I want to log each individually for my 'knitting goal' of 50 items.  A friend wanted to do 50 Book Challenge, but I actually did that challenge last year and BLEW it away!!!  Totally decimated that count.  So I thought I would try it on knitted items.  ::flexes imaginary toned bicep muscles::

Featured in my upcoming knitwear features will be 'nametobedecided'.  Hopefully she will have all sorts of interesting looks and haircuts.  Currently NTBD is looking like this and hasn't scared the cats too badly.  ::grin::  Okies, off to edit and start posting knits!

Books, Books, and More Books!

I have been having a Reading Fest the past few days!  Granted getting a $5.00 coupon plus 30% off at Borders helps a whole lot!!!  So for $17.00 I was able to nab three books
  • Ecstasy by Jacquelyn Frank
  • Veil of Midnight by Lara Adrian
  • Any Given Doomsday by Lori Handeland
Granted that did not include the books I had already read before this date...
  • At Graves End by Jeaniene Frost
  • Zen and the Art of Vampires by Katie MacAlister
  • Midnight's Daughter by Karen Chance
  • Dark Magic by Cheyenne McCray
  • Primal Needs by Susan Sizemore
  • One Foot In the Grave by Jeaniene Frost (Reread)
And of course my audiobooks while I drive!
  • Naked in Death by JD Robb
  • Glory in Death by JD Robb
  • From Dead to Worse by Charlaine Harris
Before this I was reading a few other books during my Christmas knitting frenzy, some of which were the Mona Lisa series by Sunny.  Mona Lisa Awakening, Blossoming, and Craving.  I also read another new author Lilith Saintcrow's series Working for the Devil, Dead Man Rising, The Devil's Right Hand, Saint City Sinners, and To Hell and Back.  Both have strong female leads and some complicated storylines which I really like.

Tomorrow I am heading to Tampa, FL with my hubby and sis.  Together we are going to meet Janet Evanovich at the Barnes and Noble and have a great time!  I can not wait.

Have an awesome evening.

New Year Resolutions?

Let see... what am I going to promise myself?

Get Healthy!  Not necessarily a diet, but beginning with eating more than my one meal a day.  Taking a walk twice a week, even if that is included with my letterboxing (which I am going to start as well.)

Knit from my stash every other month.  Yes, I know its not perfect, but it will curb my instant obsessiveness when looking at yarn and thinking I have to get it now!  Granted current sock clubs do not count, but yes, I will cancel/not renew them until I can really really afford them.  January is 'knit from your stash' month for me. ::wince and cry::

Save money!  Working with a realistic budget, we have planned to pay regular bills, pay towards my student loan, and still give ourselves some 'mad' money which each may spend during the month guilt free.  If all goes to plan, then we will have enough by the middle of the year to plan a very nice vacation for our anniversary.

Blog more!  I promise myself to blog at least 3-4 times a week, even if its nothing more than dropping in to say hello or posting a picture of the kids aka cats.

Read more!  I shall set my reading goal to 200 books this year vs the easy 50 book goal I had last year.

Finally, work harder at work and work harder at play!

That is enough for right now, though once I have it started, I may be able to fit in even more on my calendar.  ::grin::

Happy New Year to you all!
