I'm Still Here!

I have been sewing up a storm, reading a ton of books, and even had a friend come to the area and stay for two weeks. It has been a crazy June. I also turned '40'.... ::cough::

Oh well, time marches on and I have much to do!

Will try to be more thoughtful and write more! So sorry! Booklist coming up in the next day or so.

Take care!

SPOILER ALERT!!!

I can't help it! He is just too awesomely cute!!! I have recently brought him for my sister's ugly bday present! She always gets an 'ugly' present from me and when I saw him at Megan's ETSY SHOP I could not resist and had had had to buy him! She will love him and if she ever read my blog she would get this spoiler early... as she barely had an internet connection, she won't know until she reads this when I tell her about it! I know, I know, I am EVIL!

One More To The Family!

So this past weekend, with hitting the Romantic Times Convention with my sister, as well as a full weekend of sewing... we have added a new family member to our lil nest of siblings!

Meet our curious cousin! Tropical Yeti!!!
He is a bit shy and even tried to escape our clutches, but we have caught him well and true! With a strange craving for 'Runts' candies, he stole into our lives and we are going to keep him. ::nod nod::
(My sister was so excited to see the one I made for Matt Griffith, husband to renowed artist Jasmine Beckett-Griffith aka Strangeling, that she has wanted to join me in possibly creating our own online creature factory. That being said, she has wanted to learn to sew for a while now and this was the final straw! She had to make one of her own! And she did, I am so very proud of her!!! Not only learning (and buying) on her own sewing machine, but figuring out how to cut patterns, hand-sew something more than buttons, and finally taking a project from start to finish in less than 2 days!)

More to come regarding that!

Pieces of Flair!

I know know know know you have seen that movie 'Office Space' where Jennifer Aniston has a roll of the upcoming girlfriend to the main actor, but in the movie she is a waitress at like a TGI Friday sort of restaurant. In it she has to wear 'flair' aka buttons with funny sayings on them or pictures.
Well Facebook has a similar premise. YOU can create and share flair with your friends. Pass it on, save it, create 'Flair Albums' on your homepage, etc. The uses are boundless.... and yes, I have fallen again and started to create flair myself. ::facepalm::

So drop me a note and I shall send you some FLAIR on Facebook too!

Y-E-T-I spells Matt!!!

Many of you, unless you are Jasmine Becket-Griffith aka Strangeling fan, do not know that a few paintings of hers have an awesomely cute blue Yeti. Jasmine has stated on her blog and in person how the Yeti, to her, represents her hubby, Matt. Matt is a very devoted husband and partner for Jasmine and works hard and is very proud of the success his wife has developed. To this end, I had an idea.. why not make the YETI come to life!

So I went Yeti hunting!!! I found the fur on an online fabric store and ordered it a couple of months ago. I had planned to work on the project and give him this plushie back in February at the MegaCon he and Jasmine attended, but my RL workload did not lend itself to giving me the free time. I then decided to work on it for their next appearance. The Celebration Art Festival.

Working last week, I drew my pattern, cut the fabrics and assembled him Friday eve, Saturday Day, and bright and early Sunday morning. Each time I finished a portion I had to show my hubby and see his reaction. YEAH! Jasmine gets dollies and Matt gets plushies!

Finally complete, I stuffed him and the yeti and I journeyed to the Art Festival where I presented him to Jasmine and Matt. Their reaction was all I could hope for and they were floored to see him come to life. I forgot to ask Jasmine what his name is!!! Must ask her later.

Such a BAD BLOGGER!

Okies, I tried to return each and every day to post something on my blog. Not that I don't have a lot to talk about, but its trying to find the time. I go to work, go home, knit a bit, raid in World of Warcraft and the next thing I know its 1:30 am and I have to get up for work. Over the weekends I read like 4-5 books and then the cycle continues. ::blush::

There is SO MUCH MORE TO LIFE!!! I know this, I really really do. ::nod nod::

I plan on moving a lot of stuff from the storage unit to the house, I want to organize my yarn stash more effectively, I want to bathe the cats more often now that they are going outside ::ewww possible fleas:: and finally, I want to spend more time with the hubby, though that should honestly be the first thing on my list.

I have LOTS and LOTS of books to post for my reading list this year and I have joined yet another Knit-A-Long (KAL). Spring Mystery Shawl 09 by Goddess Knits. We shall see if I am able to stay up with everyone once it starts, I always fall behind. This is very exciting and I can't wait to start.
Lots more later!

New Year Resolutions?

Let see... what am I going to promise myself?

Get Healthy!  Not necessarily a diet, but beginning with eating more than my one meal a day.  Taking a walk twice a week, even if that is included with my letterboxing (which I am going to start as well.)

Knit from my stash every other month.  Yes, I know its not perfect, but it will curb my instant obsessiveness when looking at yarn and thinking I have to get it now!  Granted current sock clubs do not count, but yes, I will cancel/not renew them until I can really really afford them.  January is 'knit from your stash' month for me. ::wince and cry::

Save money!  Working with a realistic budget, we have planned to pay regular bills, pay towards my student loan, and still give ourselves some 'mad' money which each may spend during the month guilt free.  If all goes to plan, then we will have enough by the middle of the year to plan a very nice vacation for our anniversary.

Blog more!  I promise myself to blog at least 3-4 times a week, even if its nothing more than dropping in to say hello or posting a picture of the kids aka cats.

Read more!  I shall set my reading goal to 200 books this year vs the easy 50 book goal I had last year.

Finally, work harder at work and work harder at play!

That is enough for right now, though once I have it started, I may be able to fit in even more on my calendar.  ::grin::

Happy New Year to you all!

New Year's Early Resolution #1

I am gonna learn to crochet!  Mainly cause I wanna do all this awesome amigurumi projects I admit!!!  ::hehe::  Amigurumi means “knitted or crocheted doll” in Japanese. They're the simplest of simple, worked in the round in single crochet.  Though I only know one stitch, it would be awesome to read and understand the patterns too!

Lookie what a great find I found on Etsy!!!  His creator is named RichmondArt on ETSY and his listing is right HERE
for you to go and visit or purchase him.

I have also found a great number of these crocheted patterns on RAVELRY too.. so if you are a member, hop on over and check out.  One I am itching to try after my lil sackboy are these adorable flames!!!

They are by a renowned Amigurimi designer, Roxycraft and
can be purchased and found on her site or on Ravelry, but
whereever you find her designs you know they will be whimsical and unbearably cute!!!

So I hope you are going to try new and exciting crafts this year too!

Crafty Christmas!

Its a Crafty Christmas this year!!!

So this is it! I found these great stones at a local bead store and I could not help but snag them and create something for my SIL. She can wear so many colors with her skin tone its unfair, but then again we all love her!

It did not take me long to make and it was so very very easy. I hope she likes them!
